Best pickleball courts in the Southeast: a city-by-city guide
Atlanta leads the Southeast with 92 courts, Nashville has 21 lit for night play, and Orlando's USTA campus is open to the public. Here's where to play across the region.

The Southeast has become one of the best regions in the country for pickleball. The climate keeps outdoor courts open nine or ten months a year across most of the region, and a wave of dedicated indoor clubs has opened from Atlanta to Orlando over the last two years. Whether you live here or you are passing through, there are real options in most major cities.
This guide covers eight Southeast cities with the most courts in the Pickle Club directory. The data below reflects current court counts and drop-in availability as of mid-2026.
Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta leads the Southeast with 92 courts across the metro, more than any other city in the region. The spread runs from North Fulton and Gwinnett County in the north to Newnan and Tyrone in the south. Twenty-five of those courts have drop-in access.
The highest-end facility in the metro is Life Time Athletic Peachtree Corners in Gwinnett County, which has 30 covered outdoor courts. Membership is required, but the programming and court quality are the best available in the Atlanta area. For open play without a membership, Planet Pickle in Suwanee has 12 indoor courts with same-day drop-in at a public-paid rate. It is one of the most accessible dedicated pickleball venues in the metro.
ITP Pickleball Club is the best inside-the-perimeter option. Eleven indoor courts on Atlanta's north side, lit and air-conditioned, with drop-in sessions throughout the week. Weekday mornings usually have availability. Pickle and Social Gwinnett in Buford has 16 covered outdoor courts with drop-in, making it one of the few large covered outdoor venues in the Southeast where you can show up without a reservation.
For free courts, Shaw Park in Marietta has 9 outdoor courts with regular open-play sessions. Rhodes Jordan Park Community Center in Lawrenceville has 8 outdoor courts with consistent free drop-in access.

Raleigh-Durham, NC
Raleigh ranks second in the Southeast with 77 courts across the Triangle area. It is a serious market that is still building out its dedicated club infrastructure. The court inventory skews heavily toward public park and recreation center courts, which are well-distributed across Wake County. The lit-court count (3 out of 77) means night-play options are limited for a metro this size.
For visitors, the recreation center system is the easiest entry point for casual drop-in. For competitive or regular players, the private clubs in the area are filling that gap.

Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville has 68 courts and the best lit-court ratio in the region outside of Atlanta. Twenty-one of those 68 courts have lights, a higher concentration of night-play options than most similarly-sized cities in the South.
Maryland Farms Pickleball in Brentwood is the metro's flagship: 20 outdoor lit courts on a purpose-built complex south of the city. Public-paid with reservations, it is the most structured practice environment in the Nashville area and the facility that competitive players use most.
Music City Pickleball in Franklin has 12 indoor courts with open-play sessions daily. Weekday morning sessions are typically bookable with a day or two of lead time. Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville proper is city-run with 12 indoor courts, keeping prices accessible for recreational players.
Dinkville Nashville Rooftop is worth a visit for the setting alone. Eight outdoor lit courts on a rooftop venue in Nashville with drop-in access. The venue draws a strong social crowd on weekend evenings, and the combination of rooftop outdoor courts and proximity to the entertainment district makes it unlike most places on this list.

Charlotte, NC
Charlotte has 61 courts, the fourth-highest count in the Southeast, with 10 indoor options across the metro. The inventory runs heavily toward public park courts distributed across Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. Daytime players have solid access. The absence of lit courts in the current directory is a gap that private clubs are beginning to fill.
Tampa, FL
Tampa has 58 courts that provide a solid base for year-round outdoor play. Eight drop-in courts and 6 lit options across the metro make it primarily a daytime outdoor scene, which suits the climate well. The court footprint covers Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, giving the broader Tampa Bay area good geographic coverage.

Orlando, FL
Orlando has 38 courts but punches above that number with strong facility quality and a good drop-in ratio. Thirteen of those courts are lit, and 11 offer drop-in access, giving it one of the better drop-in rates per court in the Southeast.
The top facility in the metro is USTA National Campus at Lake Nona: 15 outdoor lit courts on tournament-spec surfaces, open to the public at a daily paid rate with drop-in sessions available. For a public-access outdoor facility, it is the strongest combination of court quality and open availability in the region.
Central Winds Pickleball Courts in Winter Springs offers 14 outdoor lit courts with drop-in access, a strong alternative for players in Seminole County. Cady Way Pickleball in Winter Park has 8 outdoor lit courts at no cost with drop-in, the best free option in the metro by a clear margin.
For indoor play, Crush Yard in Kissimmee has 10 indoor courts with drop-in and sits near the tourism corridor, practical for visitors based in that part of the region.

Asheville, NC
Asheville is the smallest metro on this list but one of the most interesting for lit-court density. Thirteen of its 26 courts are lit. That is a 50% ratio, the highest of any Southeast city in this guide, and it reflects sustained local investment in extending the playing day into the evening.
Creekside Sports Club in Black Mountain, just east of Asheville, is the area's largest single facility: 16 indoor courts with members-based access. Asheville Racquet Club South has 8 outdoor lit courts with a similar club structure. For free public access, Murphy-Oakley Community Center Park and Weaver Park each have 4 outdoor lit courts. Kenilworth Park offers 4 outdoor courts with free public drop-in.
For a city of its size, the public lit-court coverage is strong. Several parks have views of the surrounding Blue Ridge range, which adds to what is already a well-equipped local scene.
More worth knowing
Jacksonville, FL has 42 courts, the largest inventory in North Florida. Most are outdoor public park courts with free access, and 5 offer drop-in. It is a practical market for Duval County players and a useful stop for anyone traveling the coast.
New Orleans, LA has 23 courts concentrated in the metro. The public park options provide workable access for visitors, and the city has a small but active pickleball community for its court count.
Playing on the road
